Dr ..S. Surianarayanan having thirty Five years of experience as a college librarian served in Sri Paramakalyani College, Alwarkurichi, which is run by the great Industrial magnets of Amalgamations Group, Chennai. He joined in this college as the Librarian Grade I on September 05, 1979. During that year this college started P.G course in Physics. The infrastructure facilities available and the courses offered in the college helped him to develop his practical and academic administrative experience a lot in the field of library and information science. He continued the open access system and introduced the book bank system effectively. He popularised the Over-night issue facility which was used by all the students till the system was dropped out due to the introduction of shift system in the curriculum and the ex-tented library hours.

He initiated to introduce the Best User of Library award to the students those who use the library effectively during the period of their course of study. He introduced various other services like SDI, Career Guidance, GIS, Readers forum etc. He framed the syllabus for Library and Information Science for introducing Library and Information Service Programme under Part V.

He is the approved research guide for guiding M.Phil scholars in Alagappa, Madurai Kamaraj and Annamalai Universities and Ph.D guide in Manonmaniam Sundaranar University and Sri Chandrasekherendra Saraswathi Viswa Mahavidhyalaya and Co-Guide in Bharathidasan and Annamalai Universities.He is the Resource person for handling PCP for M.L.I.S and M.Phil in Library and Information Science at Manonmaniam Sundaranar, Alagappa and Madurai Kamaraj Universities. He served as the Senate Member of Manonmaniam Sundaranar University for three years from January 2007. He is the recipient of Autolib Tamilnadu Best Librarian Award- 2009. in SALIS 2010 on August 2010. Best Tamilnadu Librarian award for 2010 has been awarded to him by Tamilnadu Library Association on 18.02.2011 at the IX National Conference and Seminar held at Pudhukottai.

He has retired from aided college service on 31st May 2013 and rejoined as the management Employee in the same college as the Librarian and advisor to School Libraries in Sri Paramakalyani Institutions and served till January 2015 and then he came out from the Institution.

He then served as the Coordinator of various academic activities at Amar Seva Sangam, Ayikudy, which is one of the service rendering bodies for the physically challenged and intellectually disabled people from May 2015 to September 2019. He served there as the Coordinator of IGNOU Special study centre, Programme Incharge of Alagappa University Distance Learning centre and Correspondent & Principal of Amar Institute of Rehabilitation sciences and the Principal of Sri Sathyasai Institute of Computer Education and Training.

At present he is serving as the Chief Coordinator (SF) at Madura College (Autonomous), Madurai in Self Financed Strream from 28th January 2021.
